HORSE SHOW RULES - EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2006

  1. The show committee reserves the right to add, drop, or combine classes.
  2. Leadline: Riders who are in leadline may not enter other classes and must be led by someone 13 or older. Western or English attire is permissible in Leadline except Trail Leadline must be Western. If a leadline rider wishes to enter another division during the show year, points will NOT be carried over to the new division.
  3. Walk/Trot: Riders may only show in that division in the same show. In the event a walk-trot rider wishes to enter the OPEN divisions, points will not be carried over to the new division during the show year, and vice versa. The walk-trot level of competition is considered to be developmental in nature. It is expected that exhibitors will progress to the OPEN level in due course.
  4. Protective leg wraps and bell boots will be allowed for the Reining, Western Riding, and Trail classes ONLY.
  5. Western: Snaffle bridle riders must use two hands. Snaffle bits are allowed with a strap that does not exert pressure on the horse's chin. Rider must use one hand for bits with a curb chain or shank.
  6. Halter: Only one horse may be shown by a handler in each class. Judged on the conformation of the horse.
  7. Showmanship is judged on presentation of the horse and handler together. Western or English attire is appropriate.
  8. Equipment/Schooling Horses: Schooling horses may not be shown at that same show under saddle for points. A rider may school a horse in any division but show a different horse in the riders division for points. No training forks, standing martingales, German martingales, tie-downs, draw reins or whips will be allowed in regular classes. Schooling horses are permitted to use training aids. Leg wraps and bell boots are permitted on schooling horses only. Any hitting in front of the girth will cause the rider to be dismissed from the class.
  9. Western riders must wear a cowboy hat or protective helmet, long sleeve shirt, long pants, and boots. All boots must have a 1/2" heel or greater. Please have appropriate attire for your class!
  10. English riders must wear helmets, long pants, long sleeve shirt, jackets (optional at the discretion of the judge) and boots with a 1/2" heel or greater. Please have appropriate attire for your class!
  11. Conduct and safety: Any un-sportsmanship conduct or abuse will cause an exhibitor to be dismissed by the judge or BRR committee person. Any horse may be excused for lameness or for posing a danger to other horses and/or exhibitors by the judge or BRR committee person.
  12. Awards: Rosette ribbons will be awarded 1st through 6th place in each class. Leadline riders not placing will receive a participant ribbon.
  13. Year-end awards: Members accumulating points for year-end awards must show in a minimum of two (2) shows during the year. Members must also contribute an accumulative of two (2) hours of volunteer service at the horse shows to be eligible. Volunteers are responsible for verifying their hours with the horse show chairman.
  14. No Refunds once the horse show has started.
  15. All Fairground rules MUST be followed.
  16. OPEN DIVISIONS: Rider's AGE is as of January 1st of the current show year.
